Visual Styles

I have been using Win 7 for a while without any problem but when I select items(firefox, menus etc),they fade in and out a bit slowly. Is there a way to diable "visual styles on windows and buttons" without having the old classic windows look?

You can turn on/off individual visual effects in Windows 7 to improve performance:

Control Panel >> System >> Advanced System Settings (in the left pane).

In the "Performance" section at the top, click "Settings".

Untick the visual effects you don't want then click 'OK'
