Computer wont let us play games?

I have windows xp pro. And everytime i try to put a game in for the kids or even download one from the internet this comes up im not sure why.
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system fileis not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application. Im not sure how to fix it.
