Problem using hard drive enclosure

Just purchased an enclosure to try and get the data off my old laptop's hard drive (used to run XP, but now won't boot) onto my other laptop running vista.

The new laptop recognises the hard drive but rather than saying it's got so many GB's out of 80GB free it says 3.77Mb of 10.1MB has been used (viewing from 'my computer') . In Disk managament it says that the hard drive has 74.53Gb capacity. However the file system is FAT, whereas the internal drives are NTFS.

When I try to view what's on the hard drive there's a load of folders that can't be opened and some files that can't be opened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to bump my own post, but I'm kind of desperate to get the data off this drive. Please help.
