Graphics don't display properly on webpages

Not all graphics load, and appearance settings are absent on webpages. This began shortly after I installed an HP Photosmart S20 scanner, along with the programs from Microsoft which allow me to run the Photosmart S20 on Windows XP although it was only supported up to Windows 98. I have installed the software for this device before without any problem. The scanner and the software run fine.

Sorry I missed your post

I have now corrected my email address; didn't remember that an old one was on file.

I primarily use Firefox, but occasionally I use IE when Firefox is down. One of the programs that doesn't display properly is my homepage on Firefox, Netvibes.
I've done the troubleshooters in Display in the Control Panel. I also do not get all of the graphics on Flickr.

Hope this has been helpful.

Correct. I've checked the same sites in both browsers.

Yes, I did a system restore for as far back as I could, certainly before this problem started, but it didn't fix the display.

windows xp graphics still not working

I posted the following on June 10, got a couple of replies, then received no more posts since June 15. Did I fall through the cracks?

It's really hard to say what your problem is without being able to see your web pages. One thing to try is uninstall firefox & reinstall it. It could be some setting or it could be flash player or some add-on that's corrupt. I'm not sure.

He says, the problem affects both browsers.

Anyway, mamabird5o, does the problem affect some sites, or all. If some, are those same sites in both browsers.

Post couple of sample links.

Examples of web pages missing graphics

The following links are all to pages that do not completely display graphics (a lot of white space):

The first site is pretty simple, so where exactly are you getting white spaces:

Problems with flickr site

Even fewer links are appearing on the page you sent back than I see. Above the photographs, there are nine tabs for "Groups", among other things. On my screen, the tabs are there, but they are just empty boxes where the commands should be.

Both the NetVibes page and the Google page also have many more features which are not present, including a dark background on netvibes.

I'd try to uninstall/reinstall Java.
Download fresh copy, first, so you're not stuck without Java.

Java download

I downloaded Java 6.6 and verified it with the Sun site; I also uninstalled my previous Java. This did not fix my problem.
