Broswer will not connect but messenger will
IE, Avant, & AOL will not connect but yahoo messenger will. I don't know what it is. I am using XP with Mediacom Cable connection. I have tried to reboot and powered on/off modem with no luck Please HELP!

To try the easiest thing first, Click Here to open a page with a link to download WinSock XP Fix.
Put it on a floppy or CD, take it to the computer with the problem and run it. It can't hurt and it may solve the problem (fixes damage to winsock that malware causes). |

I should have mentioned that I tried that already but did not help. I also ran adaware, spybot s&d, antivirus, and checked to make sure a firewall wasn't on.

Update: I re-ran winsock xp fix, just for the heck of it assuming that the first time didn't work right, and sure enough it fixed the problem. Thank you so much for your help!!
