c drive is almost full
HI i am at 78 gb out of 80 gb and the pc is gonna explode at any minute.
I have gone into the c drive and there is nothing on it at all. a few excel files and things like microsot office and some excel files. there are no pictures videos or anything else that i can see that could constitute to using anywhere near this amount of space. i know 80 gb is fairly small these days in termsd of disc space but what could it be. this pc has been used by a number of different staff over the last few years is is possible there are user accounts with files on them that i cannot see. Any help as always greatly appreciated. giff |

hi ann marie dont know if you can help here. your program would not run but i managed to find another free one which has done the job for me. Having scanned the total of c: it states 58gb of data howere at the bottom it states 78gb used out of 80gb.
the main culprits seem to be the following: .pst files 9 in total adding up to 10gb none of these have been accessed since 2009 users 15gb windows 20gb of which winxs is 13 gb adobe 5 gb i cant seem to find the pst files to delete them as i believe they are backups from old users on this pc and i cannot access these users. is there any way of cleaning or deleting this information thanks Giff |

Did you search for *.pst? As you probably know they are Outlook files, holding email, contacts etc. Also may be hidden. Normally they are called outlook.pst and would be in a folder in the users profile. Or may have the users name i.e. murf.pst

thanks murf, they dont come up under any searches and the users are all unknown. they have not been accessed or modified since 2009 so i believe i can delete them and save about 10gb on the pc. i am backing them up to a usb stick first though just in case and then i can delete them from the scan software.
is there anything i can do with the winxs file ? Giff |

It sounds as though your OS has issues. TreeSize Free runs well on my Vista and also my Windows 7 installation

Here is another program that is likely to help.
http://w3.win.tue.nl/nl/onderzoek/on.../sequoiaview// Also you can delete your old restore points to free up space. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...-restore-point |
