Go to Start - Run, type cmd and hit OK. At the prompt, type the following, pressing Enter after each line:

cd /d d:

dir /s /a > larry.txt&larry.txt

A scan should run, and when that completes a textbox will open. Post those contents back here please.

Should I be checking the c drive instead?
I tried the d drive and the log had 950000 characters

I tried some web search guesses, but hadn't located a definite bit of info on those files. Recent, and created in a temp folder that was meant to load on the boot drive - the system partition. So the Recovery Console boot setup files are on this drive, and Windows on the other. Setups like this one can work a long time without a glitch, but when changes bring the setup into view, glitches become the norm.

Let's check some of those files for now.

Just go here, press NEW TOPIC (right hand side, just at the top of the forum thread list), fill in the needed details and just give a link to your post back here (see the "Instructions for uploading files" there for help, if needed). Then press the browse button and then navigate to & select the following files on your C drive.

You DO NOT need to be a member to upload, anybody can upload the files. You will not be able to see the file once uploaded.

Just click the "(more attachments)" next to the Browse button to upload more than one file.

Failed installers for The Weather Channel. All the same size and MD5 hash mark:

File: GLF38F.EXE
Size: 121111
MD5: 11C65E1A01DCB3B078651BAACCE1CDFA



A search for that shows some clown uploaded this file as some type of keygen. Handy it is Weather Channel actually, since it is one I was about to mention. On many systems I see it to cause problems, pushing to load just when the desktop and security softwares are loading, attempting to immediately establish a new contact with it's servers, regardless if one exists, and at times popping up this or that alert, often about it needing more updating.

This one also may be corrupted, trying to load it's installer files from the wrong drive. The repeat files (they are all the same) suggest failed install over and over. Why not uninstall that, reboot and check if things improve.

I had the weather channel uninstalled a long time ago, but sometimes something related to that would pop up. Now none of that. I deleted all the GLF files, but still feel the same.

It takes a long time to move files.
Add/remove program lets long to load.
Sound sometimes jam up.

When windows startup, it takes a long time on the black screen with blue loading bar. When the did chkdsk c: /r, that black screen passed by quicker to scan.
