PLEASE HELP. mllmj.dll has trojan virus (Hijack This log inside)
My system file mllmj.dll has a trojan virus. My anitvirus software can't clean it and I am afraid to delete it because it is a system file.I downloaded hijack this and ran a scan. My log is below. Please help, I need my computer to to do my job, because I work at home. Thanks so much for any help anyone could give me.

Hi mel1978, welcome to CTH.

Your are running two Antiviruses, please keep only one and uninstall the other: you can perform a lot of online scans.

Did you install these sites in your Hosts file?

Hi Stonangel. Thank you for the welcome and the quick response. I am not sure how to install those to my host files. I was running a boot scan on it and it popped this file at me and I had the option of delelting it, but I did not want to because it was in the Windows folder. If the infected file is not legitimate, can I delete it?

I was able to do everything you said except for the Activescan. When I I click scan now, I get a screen that says active scan has started, but nothing happens. I clicked the top bar to install Active X and got the prompt, I ran the active x and my screen is still saying "Active Scan is starting....". After I ran the last Hijack This and fixed the 2 files and restarted my pc, it rebooted quickly and I am able to get on to my internet explorer again for more than 3 minutes ( I was using Firefox earlier). Hello again. I am having all sorts of problems now. First when I came home today, I had a blue screen on my computer that popped up when I shut it down this morning, it said ( I am typing this word for word):

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

If this is the first time you seen this stop error screen, then reboot computer (which I did and I received it again) If it appears again, follow these steps

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space (which I do)
If a driver is idenified in this stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters

Check with hardware vendor for BIOS updates
Disable BIOS memory options suck as caching and shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select advanced startup options and then click safe mode

When I booted up Windows, I received a message saying that Windows just recovered from a serious error and asked me to send error report, which I did.

I installed a firewall last night that I seen reccommended at this site (starts with s, cant remember what it was called right now), I uninstalled it, thinking that was the problem. I received the message above when I resarted afterwards, but when Windows came up I didn't receive the Serious error message again, like I did in the previous 2 reboots


I went ahead and ran the hijackthis and deleted the files you told me to. I restarted in safe mode and looked for the file C:\WINDOWS\System32\ihjtll.exe. It was not there, I checked to make sure I could view hidden files and "hide extensions for unknown file types" was unchecked, they were. So i restarted the computer into normal mode and ran the bit defender which said I was infected with virus.

My computer is still running quicker than it was before I ran the steps you gave me before, but something is still seriously wrong.

Also, I uninstalled the Norman last night. I could have swore I did it before I posted the log here, but maybe not. I am now running Avast Virus scanner. I also have McAfee installed on my computer, but it does not work, it also won't let me uninstall it.
Please help. I am so confused. I dont know what to do. Thanks so much

Hey Stonangel. I just wanted to let you know I am not receiving the message I posted above anymore when I restart my computer. It must have been the firewall program I installed. Once that was uninstalled, my computer started running faster again and I am not receiving the blue screen error message on restart or shutdown.


Although, the bitdefender did say I had a virus. I also ran an avast scan and it moved 2 files that were infected. Any other suggestions?

Please download Ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.

Copy the ewido log in your next post and include a fresh copy of HijackThis for review please.

What do you mean by thats good? Are we making progress in getting this crap off my computer? I hope so. My boss is starting to get upset with me
