if you mean the IE window doesn't automatically fill the screen, try enlarging the window manually by dragging the window frames with the mouse instead of clicking on the 'maximise' icon in the top right-hand corner. Windows does not remember the 'maximise' setting for the next browsing session, but it does remember if you size the window manually. (or it should, anyway).

Hi All,

idr, after you set the window to the size you want it (such as maximize) then while pressing and holding the Ctrl and Shift keys, click on the X to close the window. IE6 will then remember the setting when you reopen it. Should do the trick.

Hello again idr,

We'll get this fixed. Let's step back and try the basics first:
Click Start-Programs
Right click on Internet Explorer
Click Properties.
Click the Shortcut tab.
In the Run field click the drop down arrow.
Select Normal Window (you'll see the minimize/maximize options here too).
Click Apply.

I just gave this a trial run so know at this end it works. Let us know if this was the one.

Jintan's suggestion usually works but if it doesn't, go back and change the Run field to Maximized.

That setting does not affect secondary IE windows, though. They are set to open half size by default.

If you want those (links that open in a new window, for example), to open maximize:
1. Open IE, go to a page with links
2. Open a link in a new window (right click on link, left click on Open in New Window)
3. With the left mouse button held down, grab the corners/edges of the secondary window and drag it to the size and placement you want. Do not use the maximize button.
4. Close the original window first - this won't work unless you do!
5. Close the window you just resized

All future IE secondary windows will open using the size and placement of the window you closed in step 5.
