The Windows Explorer/Video Play ERROR

I've seen this error in other places that differ only a little from my problem. But there has yet to be a clear answer. When i open my documents everything is fine, however when i enter a folder that has video files displayed as thumbnails windows explorer errors and closes the screen. I can see picture thumbnails just find and i can see videos that are not in thumbnail format. When i go to play a video in any player the player shows "connecting" and then finally errors and closes. It is not a codec problem and i have not installed anything new, it just sorta started happening a couple days ago. I have no viruses and no spy ware i'm sure of that.

Does anyone have any ideas???????

change the way the folder is displayed. Instead of thumbnails chose icons or list.

Start
Run...
type regsvr32 %windir%\system32\thumbvw.dll hit enter.

This usually fixes that particular problem.

regsvr32 shmedia.dll

If that is a no-go

c:\windows\system32\mpeg2dmx.ax

rename mpeg2dmx.ax to mpeg2dmx.ax.old

After looking all over, including here, trying all these steps, I found a solution elsewhere. Thought I'd share it here, though, since this was one of the few places to offer ideas.

Just download, install this. It replaces all the corrupt files, including the one in question involving MPEGs.
