Game Installation Problems: World of Warcraft

Well, like the title says, I've having problems installing World of Warcraft. I have called the Blizzard tech lines and they are busy out the ying yang, sent e-mails but I think those will also be congested, and besides, I think it may be something wrong with my computer, not their product. Here's what's happening:

I insert the installation CD and before long I recieve this message:
The installer was unable to read the file "D:\Installer Tome.mpq". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at D:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The data being read was "Repack-MPQ\Data#terrain.MPQ\World\Maps\Kalimdor\Kalimdor_ 27_37.adt", and the error code was 38.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (MPQFile::Read)

Anyone know what could be wrong with my computer? It's a new Alienware so you can imagine my anger right now

Tyler

Yes, I just bought the game like 3 hours ago, and it's not scratched, either

I didn't know it was released today. Did you have a beta copy on your computer? It looks like the problem you are having was common with the beta copy.

Nope, this is the first time installing. Did they have a fix for the beta?

looks like there was a 2.4 gig download that took care of the problem. This is the search I did. Maybe something there will help.

Okay, in my reading I have found out that the install files shipped with the game were a piece of crap. It seems like one way to get things rolling is to copy all the tome files onto your hard drive and then using something to edit the tome files. (ie: using WinMPQ to remove the file from the tome that is causing the errors (terrian.mpq or in my case sound.mpq) and then adding it again).

When I got this error I though I was the only person having these problems. Apparently there are thousands of others out there with this same problem. Blizzard should have really fixed this cause it really keeps people from playing the game. If I had purchased this rather than my buddy giving me a trial account, I would have definetely returned the game by now.
