add more IDE harddrives
I have two HDs on my primary channel and two CDROMs on my secondary channel. I was wandering if there is any way to add more HDs to the setup by use of a PCI card or something. The reason is I've run out of space on my drives and I don't have enough money to buy larger drives. But I do have some extra smaller drives I could install, but there are no more IDE channels available. Is RAID the only way to do this or is there another option?
I have w2k pro. |

you can buy an ide controller card that will allow you to add 4 more ide devices without going to a raid system.
the setup may be a little difficult. I seem to remember I had to install the drivers for the card before I installed the card, but that was a couple of years ago. |

I purchased a PCI IDE Controller card for £12 and it works perfectly.
No driver problems at all. ![]() |

Thanks for the replies. I installed a SIIG controller card and it works beautifully. I didn't even have to install any drivers. Thanks again.
