Unhappy Unable to log onto my account

Hi,
I am running windows XP and yesterday started experiencing problems with loads of pop ups, although my web browser (BT yahoo) has a pop up blocker enabled. Today when I tried to logon to my account the pc keeps restarting everytime i click on my user icon.
I have run ad aware and deleted all the files it found, i have also deleted my temp internet files.
I am able to access sub accounts but can't even open mine by logging off and switching user..
Not sure what else to try but have run hijack this and here is the log :

Welcome to CTH jazzkitten. You have a few problems showing in your log. Also your OS had not been updated and this leaves you wide open to all sorts of problems.

Firstly, download, unzip and run LSPFix.exe from here and remove lspak.dll from your winsock layers. In order to do this, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox and check all instances of lspak.dll (and nothing else). Then move all checked files to the "Remove" pane and click Finish and reboot.

Close IE and all open windows and run Hijack This again. Check the below entries and click on Fix Checked.

When you have done this, boot into Safe Mode (restart your PC and tap F8 as it restarts), make sure that you can

view hidden files and folders, and run a search for and delete the below folders/files in bold:

C:\Documents and Settings\shuvie\Local Settings\Application Data\microsoft\internet explorer\V0.15.dat

Reboot and go here and run the online scanner. Let us know if anything is found. Also take a trip to Windows Updates and install SP1 and all critical updates for your OS. When you have done this, post back a new Hijack This log and tell us if you still have a problem.

hi, right, ive done all those things that you posted, and the pop ups seem to have reduced greatly

however the main prob is still here and its the most important..

The pc still keeps rebooting when i try and click on my user icon (in the xp login screen)...

why is it doing this, we can only logon to the other 2 user names which we don't use..

here is our hijack log which was taken after the alterations.

Hi jazzkitten, did this problem happen after running Ad-Aware and did you go online and update it before you ran it?

There was an issue with Ad-Aware removing wsaupdater.exe and in doing so, the PC became unbootable.

You can boot your PC though, you just cannot login to your account. What permissions does your account have and what permissions does the account have that you are presently using?

well we have given them all admin but, the account which wont login is the main administrative account, the first one we made, one of which we have had to start using and moved all our stuff back there (mp3 etc..)

i did run adaware a few days before as well that must be what has corrupted the reg key

Ok here's an update...
Somehow today i was able to logon to my main accout after typing in a password ( an option i hadn't set up).
I opened my browser to find that my homepage had been set to "zestyfind.com" and i was unable to change it.
have downloaded adawareSE and run it but not deleted the files because of the problems I had with wsupdater.exe.
Ran hijack this again and was hoping someone would let me know what it is safe to delete...?
Cheers guys, I appreciate that you are busy
Jazz.

Hi jazzkitten, sorry I have been offline for a few days. Firstly, follow my earlier instructions, see below

Quote:
Firstly, download, unzip and run LSPFix.exe from here and remove lspak.dll from your winsock layers. In order to do this, click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox and check all instances of lspak.dll (and nothing else). Then move all checked files to the "Remove" pane and click Finish and reboot.
Next, please create a dedicated folder for Hijack This on your drive and copy it across. If you leave it where it is, backups will not be created.

Close IE and all open windows and run Hijack This again. Check the below entries and click on Fix Checked.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [\Pribi.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi\Pribi.exe

When you have done this, boot into Safe Mode (restart your PC and tap F8 as it restarts), make sure that you can view hidden files and folders, and run a search for and delete the below folders/files in bold.

C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi

Reboot and post a new log. The wsupdater.exe problem was fixed promptly by Lavasoft jazzkitten and it didnt affect many people. If that had been your problem, you would not have been able to log into your account at all. I have trialed Ad-Aware SE without any problems.
