big trouble with Kai Photo Soap

HELP! I just lost all of my pix from Paris when I tried to download them onto Kai's Photo Soap (v. 1.0). I think I used up too much memory, and the system crashed. No photos in camera, or in PhotoSoap, but there is a large file that may have what I need - it ends with .pxl. However, it won't open. I get an error message: "Unexpected error while creating the axiom virtual memory environments." Is there any hope of saving these photos? I am truly desperate - my spouse is terminally ill, and this was literally the trip of a lifetime...

Is your hard drive full? That might cause virtual memory issues. Before you go any further though the first job is to back up that .pxl file to a CD for safe keeping. It's also worth doing a search for all the .jpg files on the machine to make sure that that haven't just been moved. What version of MacOS are you on?

I am using OS 9.2 on my iMac, and have 201.9 MB available.

Is photosoap behaving with other files you give it to open?

No, I cannot open Photo Soap now. The message I get is: "Could not be opened because "prism" could not be found". I should add that since I last wrote, my system completely crashed and I had to reinstall Mac OS 9.2...the folder with the Paris pix is still there,though. Still can't open it.
