I am currently running XP Home. I am required to install a piece of software from work on my home machine and they prefer to support it under XP Professional. I can get the XP Pro upgrade or the complete XP Pro package. I plan on building a new machine in six months. If I use the upgrade then I will have to install XP Home and the upgrade on the new machine. I would prefer to avoid that. If I purchase a new complete XP Pro CD and insert it on my machine will it recognize my current Home install and just upgrade me or will I have have to do a complete reinstall of my operating system?

![]() If you choose the upgrade version. you can probably also begin the XP Pro installation, and it will prompt you for the other Windows media (XP Home), at which point you can just insert the CD, without having to install it first. |
