Vista Partitioning problem

When I installed Windows it somehow partitioned the disc into a 9 GB section and then an large unallocated section of about 550 Gb. The smaller section of 9 Gb has Windows installed and is out of space.

I went in to disk management to extend the partition and noticed that the rest of the hard drive was unallocated. I re-allocated this section into a E drive. Then I unallocated a smaller section of it so that I could use that to extend the C drive. I cannot extend the smaller partition. It simply is not an option in the right click context menu. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Thanks, but the disks are dynamic disks, not basic and this tool will not work for dynamic disks.

last resort is to replace the HD.

Note this webpage. Only Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Vista support Dynamics Disks. If you are trying to install Home Premium or Business or Basic it won't work.

Thank you. I am not sure what you mean by "it won't work". What won't work? The disk(s) are listed as dynamic in the disk manager. I am using Business edition. I understand what the article is saying. But not what you mean.

Vista Business isn't compatible with Dynamic Disks. Only Ultimate and Enterprise are. The necessary files to use dynamic disks are not included with any other version of vista. That is what I mean by it won't work. Vista Business can't work on dynamic disks. Sorry.

Then why would it allow you to convert to dynamic? If it doesn't support it, it should not allow you to convert to it.

Thanks for the help. I'll get a new disk.
