Bootmgr is compressed/sysrestore can't find bootmgr/ntldr
I recently installed Windows 7 on my computer as a dual boot with Windows XP. After the initial restart after installing 7 I was greeted with "BootMGR is compressed." After following the advice of this forum, I booted up the Windows XP System Restore (I don't have the disk for Windows 7) and attempted to use the "attrib -c bootcfg/ntldr" commands in the Windows XP installation. The command prompt tells me that it cannot locate either of the files. When trying to log into the Windows 7 installation through System Restore, I am prompted for a password that I don't seem to have. I have tried admin, administrator, my user account password, and no password at all. None have worked. I am currently formatting the Windows 7 drive in hope that that will solve my problem. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. |
