recovery console & password
I recently needed to use the recovery console so loaded my Xp Home disk, went to the correct menu but when I tried to log in ( I am the administrator ), I was told my password was not valid! I checked my account and everything is fine there, especially password details. What is wrong here and are there any work-a rounds or downloads to correct this and allow me access? This is incredibly frustrating so any help is much appreciated.

Usually the problem's due to the way Windows was installed at the factory.
There's a complete explanation in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, Error message when you log on to Recovery Console in Windows XP: "The password is not valid". There's a registry edit about 2/3 down this page that might fix the problem. I've never used it so I can't quarantee it'll work. |

Edited by mod - we do not help bypass password or recommend pirated software.
