external dvd/rw on acer aspire web book
Hi everyone,
I have just purchased an acer aspire one web book for my son and I was wondering if it is possible to connect an external dvd/rw via the usb2.0 hub and, if so; which software would be best. I have tried the LG website ( ext drive manufacturer) to no avail and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the matter. As always thanks in advance, Pete |

Yes it is definitely possible. I use a Sony external (usb) dvd/r/rw drive with my Asus EEE and it works great.
When you ask which software would be best, are you referring to burning discs, or just opening an inserted disc? (ie: playing a music cd, watching a dvd, etc) For burning discs, I really like K3B and Gnome-Baker. For playing music/videos, you can't go wrong with mplayer or VLC (video-lan-client). All of these programs are open source and free. |
