help folder opens on startup

when ever i start up my computer my "program files/common" folder opens up. ive ran various scans that found different problems, but it didn't affect this one. the only thing in it is a folder called "mcafee". (i use mcafee on my comp)
ive tried renaming the folder as well, when i did nothing popped up and no programs had complained, but i put it back just incase.

any ideas what could be causing this?

the only thing that happened before it, was i installed an update for windows that windows prompted me for "windows service pack 3 " or something like that.

Welcome to CTH

Go to START | RUN |

Type in the following:

msconfig

hit<ok>

A window will come up click on the "Start-Up" TAB

Look in the window and see if you see something that says:

program files/common

There will be a little box next to it if checked click on the box to uncheck it. Now hit Apply

Get out of it and reboot.

As it boots up a window will pop up telling you what you did.. Check the box don't show me anymore.

Problem should go away.

Uninstall Mcafee & reinstall it. That should take care of your problem.. http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocumen...107083&lc=1033

When you install SP3 you should have your anti-virus shut down..

I don't have an answer for you if you have reinstalled Mcafee and still have the problem, since I have never used it.. You should find your answer here however.. http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/index.php?

It may be a setting in Mcafee that is scanning on boot, but I'm guessing..
