Leopard single vs. family pack
I have two daughters in college with Mac laptops and one mac desktop at home. Each one of us runs Tiger. Can I buy and install Leopard family pack on all three machines, each of the three of us are in three different cities? Does it matter that we are all not in the same physical location?
Thanks, Mike Vetrano |

In the strictest sense of the word the Family pack is for multiple Macs under the same household. Apple assumes that for macs located in different places you'll buy a single copy for each machine.
That being posted, there are no install checkers in the OS. There is nothing to prevent you from buying a single 10.5 disk and using the same disk 3 times. Each install will be the same and there will be no limitations even though you perform multiple installs from one disk. So.... the Family pack is sort of on the honor system. There's absolutely no difference between the family pack and the single install except pricing and the license. It's more of an ethical question than a technical question. You could pay the $129 and use the single install for all 3. If your conscious isn't comfortable with that, get the family pack for the extra $70 and feel better about it. |
