Help with PDBoot.exe

First off, if this topic belongs somewhere else, moderators please move and let me know where it was moved to.
ok, with that out of the way!
i am running windows vista home basic on a Dell Inspiron 1501. i installed perfectdisk about a month ago, then found something i like better. so, i did an uninstall of perfectdisk, but i keep getting a PDBoot.exe program cannot be found at startup, just after the windows load bar page. Was wondering if anyone has had this issue, or if anyone knows a fix for it.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

No problem at all and no need to feel like an idiot either geowick07. Help to fix a "file cannot be found at startup" error is often requested and there is no reason why you are expected to know what causes the problem.

Hi Ralph. Go here and download Silent Runners.vbs to a new folder on your Desktop (Clicking the the download link works if you use IE. If you use FireFox, rightclick on the link and choose "Save Link As") and run it. It generates a log too. It takes a minute or two and it will notify you with a popup when your log is ready (make sure you wait for the popups please) Please post the information back in this thread too (you may need to make a couple of posts). If your antivirus program queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious.

PDBoot.exe not found " How to Fix It "

Start - run - type " regedit " without the quotes , click ok.
Go to
HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/
Session Manager.
Left click on Session Manager.
Under " Name " you will see " BootExecute ".
Right click on this and in the popup box click " modify ".
In the popup box " Edit Multi-String " delete all
entries that say " PDBoot.exe ".
This should leave you with the default Windows entry
" autocheck autochk * " This is all you need. If
there are other values then you have other programs
loaded that also use this. My computer has
"OOdefrag" installed so I have "OODBS " after the
name.
Make sure you do not leave any empty spaces before
the entry "autocheck autochk *" or you will get an
error . If you do just click OK and regedit will fix
it for you.
Now reboot and you should be rid of the annoying
popup error at boot.

Smile Many Thanks

Thanks to MarcusSkillion!

I am using XP Media Centre and this Regedit worked for me.
I uninstalled Perfect disk and had the annoying Boot Error message.
You are also right about the OO Defrag entry.
I just found the site today after trying to fix the PD Boot error.
Thanks to all contributors BUT please always remember to post HOW you fixed a problem.
It's only fair!
Thanks again Marcus.
