acer travelmate problems

sorry im new here and havent got a clue when its comes to pcs so if this is in the wrong section please move

im having loads of problems with my acer travelmate 2003 it takes about 10mins from start to loading the net
and when the net is on it really takes its time
ive got windows xp proffesional
and i would just like it restored to the factory settings but it wont read the cds and says theres nothing on them but if you put something in to the cd draw that you dont really want it can read them
so is there any other way apart from just binning it that i can just restore to factory settings and start again

any help will be much appreciated

Put the first cd in the drive and restart the computer.
See if it will boot to the cd.
If not, check acers website for instructions an how
to enter the bios setup and set the first boot device to cd.

link,
Drivers

Tryed to download your manual,
but having bt adsl line probs and cant keep the link open,
+ acer support ask for info only you have,
if you have the manual,
find the page that shows you how to access the bios,
and set your boot order to cdrom first, a: floppy second, then the c: h/drive last, save and exit
When you boot the laptop,
Do you get a option to boot from cdrom or harddrive as the system loads
on the wife laptop and my sons one,
at first post it ask if you need the recovery option push F10
Look at your restore disks and find the one for the WIN XP restore,
and see if it will boot from it,
