Problem - Laptop USB port uploading to an IPod

Hi Folks, my daughter has a Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop running Windows XP,(full spec at end of post) she has recently had a problem where the IPod she has won't completely update itself.
It downloads about the first 300 tracks and then a message "Attempting to copy to the disk 'The revernen' failed. An unknown error (-69)" comes up.
The Reveren is the name of the IPod (don't ask me why!).

She has tried deleting the track it gets stuck on and it downloads a few more but then the same error message comes up.

She has also tried resetting the Ipod, installing the latest itunes, taking
it back to factory settings, using a different itunes cable, trying every
USB port and various other little tweaks that it suggests on the iunes
support.
The thing that makes me think its a port problem with the laptop is that when she resets the IPod and plugs it into another friend's laptop it downloads all of their tracks onto the Ipod fine. Likewise when she was at home before going back to Uni it updated fine off our home PC.

Any ideas, I'm trying to fix this remotely as she is away at Uni.

Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop
Intel Celeron M processor 360 (1.4GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, 400 MHz FSB)
Windows XP Home SP2
512MB 333MHZ DDR memory.
internal keyboard.

I've checked with her and it is set to auto. Worth a try though thanks.

Just an add on she also states that when the Ipod is updating it appears in 'my Computer' as the E drive. When the error message comes up it disappears from 'My computer'.

Is it possible the laptop could be 'shutting down' the USB ports in mid transfer?

Liondad you're a star, the link you posted was exactly the right solution. My daughter tried it out today and by removing the 'rogue' tracks the Ipod will now update the whole library. She has asked me to pass on her sincerest thanks!
