Do you have a firewall? Is Steam enabled through it?

When you open steam does it not show up anything at all? - No update screen, No log in?

Try this--->

I have a spyware program that has a Reatime Shield.
I have to disable it everytime I use Steam! Only Steam!
So try to disable any kind of spyware program.
If I dont do it, my screen is a blank and I cant play!

Check over in the support section at Steam's website. They have a section with resolutions to this problem.

I had that problem before first off what kinda G-card do you have?

Steam also has a link that might be able to tell you the problem.

Also right click your computer and check what you CPU is running at and how much ram. Sometimes computers get screwy and put energystar on which limits your CPU speed. it put my 2.0 Ghz down to 994Mhz. so copy and paste that info here.

Then go here: http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-...hp?p_faqid=397
Click the steam://support/?Issues=* under basic troubleshooting. that should give you a little more insight as to what might be the problem.

GL!!!
