Problem Installing Programs

A while ago i had my laptop and desktop networked together so i could transfer files from one to another. I no longer have this set up. Now when i try and install programs on my laptop, an error messages saying it is unable to find specific locations on my desktop pops up and prevents the installation of the program. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like you transfered shortcuts not files. When you rightclick the file name and click on properties under the general tab, does it show type of file as shortcut?

A little confusing here laffers as to the problem.
Are you not able to install any programs or is it one program?
When you say run are you referring to installing the program or is the program already installed but it won't open (run)?

Download and install the MS Installer Cleanup utility from here-
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Look for the programs your having trouble with in the utility and delete them.
Reboot your computer and try to reinstall those programs.
