Exclamation Blue Screen of Death during every 'safe boot'

Every single time I try to boot up my computer into safe mode, I get the "Blue Screen of Death".

It shows the black screen that displays all of the drivers etc. that it is loading, and seems to get to the driver located in/called "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mup.sys". It then stops and displays the following Blue Screen of Death error message:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0X0000000A (0XF7AD5354, 0X000000FF, 0X00000001, 0X804E5619)

If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful!!!

Oh yeah, I'm running Windows XP Home Service Pack 2.

Hello... it could be you have bad sectors on your hard drive

Try this
boot the computer from the XP CD and load the Recovery console, where at the prompt type chkdsk and hit enter.. this will repair any badsectors and hopefully it will restart.. make sure you fix any errors

Thanks for your help!! I did a "chkdsk" as you suggested, but it found no errors. I tried to boot in safe mode (just in case it decided to work), but it still didn't work, and it still seemed to stop at the "mup.sys" driver.

I've discovered that the "mup.sys" driver is a Microsoft driver, and stands for "Multiple UNC Provider" driver, so I looked it up on microsoft.com, but didn't find anything that would be helpful. There wasn't anything about safe mode errors either.

You say this happens in safe mode what about normal start up and have you tried safe mode Last Known Good Configuration

This is a common misconception when booting into Safe Mode. Mup.sys is
simply the last file loaded. It doesnt mean there is an error with that file

I cant find the link i wanted please be patient.. you might have to do a repair installation of windows

If I boot in normal mode, it works perfectly fine. I've tried Last Known Good Configuration; it made no difference. I've also tried booting in the other safe modes as well: Safe Mode with Networking, etc.

I was actually just thinking that it might not be the "mup.sys" file too. I think I might do a repair installation tomorrow.
