Unhappy When I Try to open .avi files, my computer crashes!

When I Try to open .avi files, my computer crashes, no matter what program I use! Help wud b appriciated!

I download the newest divx codec too.

search google for a codec pack and download it......but first check your add/remove programs for any codecs and uninstall them.....also search google for VLC, it is the best video player

Man, I have all of those codecs and stuff, its just .avi files from torrentgs that i cant open, so i guess i cant open what i download from torrents? anyways i used to be able to.

do avi files from other sites work? if it is a problem wiht only torrent then I would guess tghey are using a wierd codec that is messnig up your comp

But the thing is, Untill today, I could open all the .avi files from a torrent,

usually ill watch a movie or download TV, but now i cant open it just says:

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

"Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

did u uninstall then reinstall the codecs? they might have gotten corrupted.....maybe, idk, or just wait for someone smart to come here
