Half-Life 2

I finally had gotten Half-Life 2 installed in my computer and plays good for the most part. From time to time when I come to a scene like when the trains are running the game kind of sputters and spurts and skips like a record or CD. I disable everything when I play it but doesn't help. Is there a patch or anything to download to help this?

I clicked to go to where the patch is and when I go to download it, it takes me to an IQ test????????

If you insist on not paying for the game, and would like to resolve the bugs you've been encountering, such as the game crashing on "auto save", or when you click F6 (IE: the quick save button), or the sound stutter, or that thing you've been hearing about where something happens as soon as the game frame rate drops below 5 fps, then you should definitely take our IQ test. This will first of all take your mind off half-life 2 long enough for some cracker or make up a patch for you to use, and second of all tell you how smart you are.

sorry but if it is an illegal copy we cant help you if you have a genuine copy you should update using the game

Does that mean you do not have a legal copy???

If you've got a legal copy it will update to the very latest version as soon as you double click on it via Steam. If it's illegal, tough s**t, that will teach you to buy an original copy.

I don't have an illegal copy!!!!!!!!!! I bought it off amazon from a place that had too many copies and it came with 5 discs!

Update or not.....it seems like you need extra RAM if you ask me. Before I upgraded my RAM, HL2 did the same thing as with yours, but now RAM is upgraded and it runs fine all the time.

otherwise known as a place flogging illegal copies and making people think they are legit - the Steam patcher will catch them and that's why you can't patch it and probably why your media was unreliable (previous post).

Try reporting it to Amazon.com but you're probably S.O.L.

It's not illegal..........I repeat it's not illegal. It turns out the the first of 5 discs were bad and didn't install right. They sent me another one and plays fine now!!!!!!!!!!!!! Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!!! It was worth it because now I see why people say that this is the best game ever made. I usually don't buy computer games because I have a PS2 but looks like Half-Life 2 won't be made for that.
