New IE window overwrites the previous IE window.

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my IE browser but I just cant seem to find the problem with my explorer.

What is the problem:-
Everytime I open a new IE window, it will overwrite the current one that I have opened.

What I've tried:-
I've tried installing and uninstalling my browser quite a few times and I've come up with no result.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this problem? I'm not sure where to start, so I'm not sure what else I have to post here. Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance. =]

To check the easiest thing first, do you have a popup stopper? If so, disable it and see if it's the problem. It's unlikely, given the symptoms you describe but any software is capable of getting psychotic.

If that's not the problem, in Internet Explorer click on Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Scroll down to "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" and if it's checked, uncheck it, click OK. See if that fixes things.

If it's not checked, check it, click OK, close IE, reopen IE, go back and re-check it, click OK. See if that jogs IE into doing what you want.

Thanks for your reply Miz. =] Sad to say, it does not work still. ='( I'm not really giving a thought about viruii yet, as signs of virii being doesn't show up. But, like you said, we have to take it into consideration as its rather unpredictable. Next step, I'll have to post my HJT log then? =]

check under internet options, you have the setting set to open in same window. Not sure of the path since I am not using a windows computer right now.

Please take time to read the posts. Miz has already suggested that fix and pacer replied to it.

you are right, I forgot to scroll down after reading the original message.

Another suggestion - are you running any type of popup blocker? If so, check the settings and see if they have something about opening in the same window. Also are you running any antivirus internet security package which might have a ad blocker or popup blocker?

Sorry for not replying about the popup blocker, everyone. Yea...I turned off the popup blocker used in ie6 sp2. It still won't work however. About HJT, if its required, I will post it here. Will post it in the next post in order to prevent mixups with this post.

*Added* (forgot to mention this part)
I didn't post up the HJT log at first due to some issues. I get 2 different logs if i scan it 2 times. The first 1 seems normal enough. The second time i ran a scan, it had extra protocols n filters. I tried removing those that says (no file), but it seems to have no effect.
