Problem With Locating Files

When i click files that are located on my desktop i get the following error message;
" This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folders control panel".
All these files were urls dragged from firefox bookmarks. The above problem will also not allow me to click on urls posted on various sites that i visit.
Any assistance would be appreciated...Thank You.

what are the file extensions for the "files".
you need to have a program associated with it, some extensions can be used for different programs.

Go to Start>Run, type "regsvr32 Urlmon.dll" (without the quotes), click OK. You should then get a message it was successful. See if the problem is fixed.

If not, go back to Start>Run for each of the following (enter the command, click OK, OK the message until they're all done):

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll

It can't hurt anything to run any of these commands and it may fix the problem.

Hey Miz.....just curious, but what does all that do?

If none of that works, right click the file, choose open with (or simply open if there is no open with) and then choose to select program from a list, choose firefox from that list and check that box under the list, ok now click ok and see if that file opens with firefox, it did? woot, now all .htm files should open with firefox by a double click......didn't work? well that sucks
