Computer crashes when I try to play games
I just built a computer, everything works fine. I was able to intall XP, install all my drivers, update everything, etc. The computer works great, up until I try to play any games. I play Railroad Tycoon 3 and KOTOR 2, neither game requires a super gaming computer, but when I play the game for about 7-10 minutes, my computer suddenly shuts off and restarts. If I start playing the game again, right after the computer restarts, it shuts down in 1 or 2 minutes. This is only a problem when playing games and nothing else. If anyone has this same problem, or knows what's going on, please let me know. Thanks

What kind of temps you running when you play? Might need to adjust the heat alarm/automatic shutdown in your BIOS.

would a game increase the temps that much?? I've checked the temp right after it crashes and the cpu temp is 106-114 F. I think that's an okay temp for a p4.
The auto shut down is disabled. I'm assuming that this means the computer will not shut down until the cpu actually catches fire. ![]() Last edited by Wes1977; March 23rd, 2005 at 05:53 AM. |

106 - 114 is perfectly fine for a P4.... Is the vid card new as well? Got another you can test with either way?
