Question Pain in the l?ass.exe
I have been experiencing problems for a long time with this spyware and have unsuccessfully tried to remove it. Neither spybot s & d or Ad-aware SE seem to help. I've read a number of similar posts but am unsure just what to remove using HJT. Can someone tell me what to do to get rid of this pesky program?

Now :

- Close all browser windows, run only HijackThis and check :

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\ERNIEF~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.dll/sp.html
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9B12FE2E-34E2-4E92-B8E6-769785E5311F} - (no file)

Click "Fix checked" and close HijackThis.

- Download Pocket Killbox from HERE.
Unzip and run it.
In "Paste full path of file..", copy/paste : C:\DOCUME~1\ERNIEF~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.dll
Tick "Delete on reboot".
Tick "Unregister dll".
Click "Delete file" (the white cross).

Let the computer reboot.

If it doesn't reboot, then reboot manually.

- To end :
Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite from HERE.
Install it (When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck : -Install background guard and -Install scan via context menu), and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Reboot your computer in SafeMode .

Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Reboot in normal mode and here:
- Post a new HijackThis log.
- Copy/paste the Ewido report, please.
