$10.00 imac
I bought an old blue imac at a yard sale, it works but the guy didn't know the password or loggin name.(It was his daughters and she married and moved away). Is there anyway around the password or can I get a cd of the OS(#?) that it can run, put it in the cd and reboot for a fresh install? Next question, where can I download (for free) the OS and can it be downloaded with a windows machine?
TIA, tas3 |

You cannot download the OS for free. You'll need to purchase a retail CD of the OS. Without knowing the exact model of the iMac, there's no way for me to tell you which OS it can run. At the very least you'll need an OS CD to reset the password.

Yeah, BestBuy and FutureShop has it. I would suggest the Multi-User Version.
If you want to be on the cheap side, either a (password recovery, reset program) or use something similar to Linux, I think its called Unix in Mac's case. There are pirated copies, but that could slow down or break your system, and some infections can play with your credit card and other private information. If you transfer files from a pirated Mac to a PC, your just as much asking for trouble. Stay legit and your systems will stay clean and secure, well alot more. $10 for Imac?, your going to be the N.V. of the town, no more Windows. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=unix Last edited by DJoe; February 3rd, 2009 at 01:57 AM. |
