Critical Updates
Can Microsoft Critical Updates be backed up or downloaded
to a removable media? They take so long to download on this dialup connection it would be nice to have them handy after a clean install of windows.

No problem. Get them from Microsoft.
Follow the instructions, and the downloads will default to My Documents. From there, you can save 'em to disk. Or save them to a different folder - up to you.
