Yet another random reboot issue...
Hello gang, here's my story...PC keeps rebooting randomly no matter what i do. Even if im not using it it will reboot sometimes. Not frequent but at least once a day. Here's what i did so far:
1-Formated PC using WinXP SP2 all updated (no change) 2-Tested memory with Memtest, no errors. Only anomaly i have noticed with my PC was with my DVD burner...the system would randomly not detect it (especialy after a PC crash), usually if i reboot correctly it would work normally. Even updating firmware/driver didnt fix that. I know that if you go in the system properties and disable the option to reboot PC when something happens it will give a blue screen instead of rebooting...could that tell me what the problem is? Thxs in advance guys! Anywho, here are my specs: MSI 865pe Neo2-LS MoBo WinXP SP2 w/ all current updates P4 2.6c HT enabled 80Gig Maxtor HDD 1Gig DDR400 PC3200 Ram (2x256 OCZ Premiere,1x512 kingston HyperX) Ati Radeon 9600xt Sony DVD Burner HP CD burner ATI TV Tuner Card 500W PSU that came with my Aspire X-SuperAlien case Last edited by HE11745; October 10th, 2006 at 10:03 PM. |

Yes, if you turn off the automatically restart, you should get a blue screen and this will give you an error message with what is causing the problem. Having said that, if you turn off the option and computer continues to reboot, then it's a hardware problem and not software or driver problems.

Thxs for the replies guys! Sooo yeah disabling the reboot option gives a blue screen...so its not a hardware issue?...k now im confused hehe. Ah well. Wouldnt a format solve the issue then? All the drivers are latest since i re-isntalled everything...CPU temp is good, stays between 30-40 degrees, never more. Any suggestions why it would not detect the DVD drive sometimes if its not hardware issue?
Appreciate it guys! Hopefully we can figure it out! |

Are there any error messages with the blue screen or does it just reboot again?

Before i formated it would give me a blue screen, dont remember what it would say, ill try again when im home, post & lookup the blue screen message. Before formating i did that verifier.exe thingy with all the drivers and upon rebooting it would give me a blue screen aslo about stream.sys and such...i guess i should try it again n see what it says.
Ill keep ya guys informed asap! |

Hello again people! Back with some info. After disabling the automatic reboot of PC and using it a while it finally gave me a blue screen with the folowing stop error:
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc000001D,0xf6ff5510,0xf7c49ef8,0x00000000) e100b325.sys - address f6ff5510 base at f6fdc000, datestamp 43c6e5f2 Now e100b325.sys is related to my NIC...so does that mean the drivers has an issue? When i check with my MSI LIVE UPDATER it shows me i have the latest...any suggestions? |
