Step 1. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Del keys simultaneously to invoke Task Manager.
Step 2. Then select the Startup tab and find out the unnecessary process with high startup impact and then hit Disable button.

Now need to clean up Windows, it has a built in cleaner tool.

Click on the Start button and then select the File Explorer link. Right-click Local Disk C: and choose Properties. Navigate to the General tab and then find the Disk Cleanup button. Once there, click "unnecessary files (temporary internet files, etc.)" then hit OK.

Once this is done reboot, did it help?

Check which power plan you have;

To do it, launch Control Panel, (Windows Key +R-open RUN dialog enter Control Panel hit OK) then select Hardware and Sound > Power Options. You’ll typically see two options: Balanced (recommended) and Power saver. (Depending on your make and model, you might see other plans here as well, including some branded by the manufacturer.) To see the High performance setting, click the down arrow by Show additional plans.

To change your power setting, simply choose the one you want, then exit Control Panel. High performance gives you the most oomph, but uses the most power; Balanced finds a median between power use and better performance; and Power saver does everything it can to give you as much battery life as possible. Desktop users have no reason to choose Power saver, and even laptop users should consider the Balanced option when unplugged -- and High performance when connected to a power source.

Lets see if any of this helps.

Thank you for the detailed instructions!

Yes, it is starting up faster, but I also disabled a lot of programs I use daily on start up. I'm just going to manually get them going when needed.

I will also uninstall Malwarebytes and AVG as my son-in-law told me Windows 10 has its own virus protection.

Thanks.

Most programs do not need to start with Windows, you just use a shorcut you created or the Tiles to use them. When the start with Windows they run in the back ground.

Yes I would uninstall any antivirus, Windows 10 Has defender which is a great anti-virus and malware. I run the free edition of malwarebytes about once a week., but do not let it start or run in the background. Slow starting can also be contributed to anti-virus and malwarebytes as they conflic with Defender.

The next area that can slow Windows 10 down is SERVICES they are several that can be stopped with Windows 1o start up:

START type SERVICES and open the app that comes up in the search.

  1. A new Window will open and will have all the services that you can tweak.
  2. Double-click a service you want to disable.
  3. From Startup Type: choose Disabled.
  4. Click OK.
Here is a list of some of the common ones you can disable:
