long time to....

i bought a new laptop
ibm t23
512 ram
30 hd
intel 111 1.13 proc
dvd cd rom
win2000 sp4

my question is that it seems to take a long, long time to close down and power off. is there anything i can do do adjust that?

thanks in advance

ps it came with a port replicator. what exactly is that for?

Windows update hot fix (Q329170) supposedly may be the cause of this.

Also some software may take a while to shutdown, such as anti-virus, and any other system monitoring software.

This may also have something to do with it.

Another thing I would check is for spyware.

downloaded the hive clean up and that turn the log off to about 25 seconds..
