I need Directx!!!

I am running a stripped version of xp on my laptop because it runs much faster. Unfortunately one of the things that was stripped was directx. My webcam needs directx in order to work. you can download the updates for directx but since i dont have the core program they are useless to me. Anyone got any ideas how i can fix this, or am i gonna have to re-install my previous version of xp?? thanks

Here is the main page for DirectX. You can download it there after validating Windows if you haven't already.

the problem is that it is not a legit version of windows anymore cause it is stripped, and also that download (that i have gotten already) wont let me install it cause it is just an update, and it has no previous directx to update. I need to figure out a way to get the directx core program files that come with windows
