Monitor is not displaying

Just last night I was working on my computer and my pointer disappeared from the desktop, I checked to see if it was till plugged in and it was, so I assumed that the computer had froze. I turned it off manually and turned it back on 20 secs later. The computercomes on and makes several beeps and the little green light comes on and goes right off and my monitor will not display anything- its black. The light indicator still comes on but no pictures
What is the problem? PLEASE HELP I NEED MY COMPUTER FOR SCHOOL!!!

Describe the beep code exactly, ..... this will give an indication of where the problem is.

Remove the mains plugs from wall socket,
Remove the mains power lead to the monitor,
Check the lead from the back of the monitor to the vga plug on the back of your pc ,
Undo the plug remove it then put it back make sure it a seated right,
put all the mains power leads back in ,
and power up the monitor,
and start your pc,
if your monitor is still blank when the computer seems to have boot up,
You need to test it on another pc,
to see if you get the same prob,
If you do the monitor has died,
If works on another pc.
we haVE A REAL prob to work on,
As you said the computer makes several bleeps, on boot up
not good,
As this will lead us to,
One the Graphic card has died,
or one or more of the Ram sticks has failed,
I can take it you do not poke around inside computers alot,
and its all new to you,
Check all the leads first and you need to test the monitor with another pc
before we can move on if this is not the prob,

Thanks Lion dad but I did everything you stated and I still get the same prob. I called a tech in my area and he said that it could be my "video Drive" Could that be the same as a Graphic drive
