Printing problems and Shut down problems

Hi
First let me point out
I had a Xerox Laser printer and a LExmark All inone installed, un plugged.
I also have a Canon IP4200 Plugged in, installed, Microsoft Image writer, and a shared micro soft image writer, on an offline computer

Ok
the setup has been workng for a while...
Now when i try to print, access Page setup or even printers and faxes, the window would freeze and will have to be terminated using task manager...
I uninstalled the Shared image writer, it worked for about a day or tow then had the prob again now i uninstalled the other off line printers leaving the Canon and that worked for about a day or two now the problem is back

I must note that when i restart the computer, it will work for while

I also have trouble shutting down, as the computer stays on the logging off screen for ever or doesnt go into shutting down mode(ie i press shut down, it closes a few programs and stays like that, in windows i could try pressing shut down gain but it would just stay there, i could press it a million times and it would do nothing... so I just press the power button for 10 sec...)

Alienware Aurora 7500
AMD Athlon64 4000+
1Gb RAM
6800GT
80Gb SATA Drive
DVD CDRW combo
FDD

Windows XP service pack 2

Virus scan with norton did nothing
I will try a spyware scan with ewido...

oh and tipping on to the Hardware side... my 80Gb hdd got louder, you can hear the clicks, buzz like in older HDDs, not very loud, but it was much quieter before

Would anyone consider "Power Strip" which came installed on the computer a spyware related program? cause it came up detected on the spyware scanner

No one can help me, without doing a reinstallation...
Any suggestions before i take on another reinstall?
Im trying to keep the comp running as long as i can before reinstalling, since i reinstall the old comp like once a month after i bought it... trying to set a personal record here.!

A Question on formatting
Quick Format just rewrites the File Tables
What does Format and Low Level format do, and Unconditional Format
One of em writes 0s Everywhere
