Cool installing vist 32 bit

Ok a friend gave me his Dell inspiron 1525 to reinstall vista all goes ok till it looks for the hard drive. it dosent show up in the bios I have it set to ATA any ideas

If ATA, and not SATA (serial ATA), then it may be something with the jumpers on the hard drive. They should be jumped for MASTER or PRIMARY.
