How to De-Crypt Infected Files from Virus

Cleared an infection a few weeks ago

Now have found I can't open some files like documents etc

When I try it asks for ASCII info and when tried to open, there are lots of weird characters

All the infected files are dated 12 May 2014

Just wondered if there is a way to decrypt them ?

Checked the registry and there are entries relating to CRYPTLIST - I found these after checking out a YouTube video

I guess this will have to be cleared up somehow, but am concerned that these infected files are beyond help.....

Thanks

Hello leachim,

I assume the system has a CryptoLocker infection. As such, only the malware scum who infected the system have the key to unencrypt the files. Currently the FBI or any other agency/vendor has not come up with the means to decrypt them. Which means yes, they are no longer accessible.

New to me, but there are steps here that may work to restore encrypted files.
