Using up all 512mb memory!
I've been fighting a problem on my wife's computer running win98se. It keeps eating up all the memory, 512mb worth! She's not using any weird programs, mainly Firefox, Outlook Express and a card game I have on my computer. I've checked whats running in the background with msconfig, which are Ram Booster, System Tray, Tweak UI, Scan Registry, AVG and the Task Monitor. I've ran Hijack This which shows a small list with nothing unusual. I've ran Spy Bot and Ad-Aware. Cleaned up what little was found. Still eats memory. I've ran win98se on two other computers in the past that never did this. In fact, my wife's computer used to function just fine until a few months ago when it started using up memory more than it should. I'm stumped. Come to think of it, this all started when I stopped using Norton AV and uninstalled it. That was a job, because it left all kinds of itself behind that kept creating problems until I finally flushed it all out. That program is nothing but garbage! That's why I run AVG now. HELP!
