Sudden data loss from hard drive
This was very strange.
I quit playing Half Life 2. Loaded up some mp3's from slave hard drive (Segate 40gig IDE), and all the file names in Media Player 10 were screwed up. They didn't play correctly either. Loads of high pitched squeaks. I restarted XP, went to the 2nd hard drive again, and all data has vanished. Windows tells me the drive isn't formatted, and would i like to format now. Where the hell has all my music gone?! Could the HDD have got too warm? Cheers for any advice. |

Your music may still be there. There are a bunch of data recovery programs available that will try to recover your files. One that I know works and has a trial mode is GetDataBack. The trial mode will tell you if the program can recover your files before you pop ~$80 (US) for it. HTH, |
