can't set power options.

when i right click on the desktop and go to screensaver/power i find all the options are greyed out. how can i reset them. my screen stays on forever. thanks, boyd.

Hello Boyd!

Does this occur with all your screensavers? If your not sure, set one of Microsoft' default screensaver and see if you get the power option. Also, did you recently install a new screensaver? If so, uninstall it and see if that helps.

thanks.

i appreciate your taking the time to answer me. i tried changing to one of the default screensavers and i still get everything greyed out in the power window. thanks, anyway, boyd.

You have a corrupted registry entry:


START | RUN type in Regedit hit OK

Hitting the + signs navigate to this key

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\ActiveDesktop

In the right pane ScreenSaveActive is the value (1)????

murf, i did as you said, but when i got to "policies" there was no option under it for active desktop. did you leave something out? thanks for helping me, boyd.

ooooops, sorry how about this:


HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop

REG_DWORD vaqlue defaut is 1
If yours is 0 change to 1
