Speakers stop working?

Hi,

I've had my computer since the summer of 07' and the speakers always worked, never had a problem. Just recently the stoped. I have the volume maxed, the speakers arn't muted, and there isn't any sound coming from them.

I checked to see if the speakers were plugged in and they are... so I'm not sure what I should do.

Now I have to revert to using head phones to listen to music, watch videos, etc... Can anyone offer any help?

Well, I'd recheck all of your sound settings (icons in the system tray, if present, and the sound applets in the 'control panel'); I'm assuming that the speakers are plugged in correctly, power on, etc. Finally, I'd try the speakers on another computer (or another set of speakers on the present computer) - you may have already gone through these steps - but good luck!
