Printer problems

I'm running 98SE. I have an HP Apollo P2200 Inkjet printer. I tried to print a text document by clicking the File drop down box and clicked on Print. I got an error msg:
"There was an error writing to LPT1 for this printer. Your file waiting to be printed was deleted".

I went to the printer dialog box and clicked on Print a Test page. It did, no problem. Why does it print a test page but not a text document I made in Windows 2000 Word program?
Thanks, Jim

In Word 2K go to FILE | PRINT

Check the Printer Name is it right? Port is that right? Go to Properties and make sure the right printer settings are there.
