Cannot access Microsoft sites/services (Win2K Server)

Hi, I'm having this problem in last 3 days. No MS-related sites/services can be accessed. Other things work normal.

OS: Win2K advanced server.
S/W: IIS running personal site, McAfee Security Center (daily update).

IE settings: checked - nothing special.
MyDoom virus: scanned - get nothing
Spyware: scaned - no help.

All other PCs in the same LAN work fine.

Could anyone please help me.

Thanks a lot

Look in the HOSTS files to see if there are any entries other than 127.0.0.1

Not sure if this switch is supported by W2K Server
open a command prompt and type

ipconfig /flushdns
enter

See if you can access the sites

If not type
ipconfig /registerdns
enter

Also try the sites via a proxy

Thanks for your reply, Degsy.

Suddenly today i can access MS stuff again, without doing anything. I guess it was the problem in network config, which is out of my reach. It also means i didnt have chance to try things with "ipconfig" commands.

However, before it becomes ok, i check the "hosts" file, and found nothing special. There's only "127.0.0.1 localhost" in there. I guess Win2k doesnt use that file anymore.

Regards.

it will use it if there are entries in it. For example on my LAN (ok, two machines and router) I have an entry on the PC to associate the name "mac" with the Mac and vice versa. So I can go to http://mac/ to get to the webserver on the Mac
