Unhappy CIVILIZATION IV game crashes repeatedly

I have a P4 3.0ghz, abit mobo, soundblaster audigy 2zs, ati radeon 9550 video card, 1gb ram. directx9c installed.

When playing civilization IV the game crashes repeatedly. Every 5-10 minutes. Sometimes the game freezes up, sometimes it just disappears and the computer goes to the desktop. I have installed the latest drivers for my video and sound card. I have also re-installed directx 9.

For some strange reason, when I run a system test (through the ati system test program) everything passes except, it states that directcomponents not installed properly. and it also states the capture driver INF files are not installed. I have re-installed everything...what gives? I just built this computer and I have been having trouble running games on it!! Can somebody out there give a helping hand??!!! Thank you
